Blasorchester Wewelsfleth
Our band was founded
in 1955 by our former pastor Hans Lohse. At that time the band played at parades,
ship launches, parties etc.
Since 1975 Heinz Brockmann has been the conductor of the band and he created the
"Wewelsfleth Sound" which became famous within and out of Schleswig -
Holstein. Today Jens Illemann is our director.
Wewelsfleth is a village of 1700 inhabitants near Hamburg and was founded more than 750 years ago. It's an idyllic place right on the river Stör and it's determined by the silhouette of cranes and big ships at the shipyard, by historical buildings and the unique landscape of the marsh.
Since
1985 we've had a good relationship with "Dallas Frohsinn Kapelle" and
"Chorgemeinschaft Texas". Both groups have been to Germany and to
Wewelsfleth several times.They invited us to Texas in 1996 for a second time and
2002 for the third time. We are very grateful for the warm hospitality offered
to us by so many friends in Dallas, San Antonio, Austin and Houston.
We are offering a variety of music styles like typical orchestra pieces
including movie sounds and musical hits, and of course easy listening German
classics and Bavarian polkas, marches and walzes. (W. Sachse)
